How to Convert Photo to PDF File on Android Phone

You can convert a photo to a PDF on your Android phone with the built-in print feature. You do not need to download an app. Open the image in Google Photos or your phone’s Files app, choose Print, and select Save to PDF.

This works for photos, JPG images, and screenshots when you need a PDF to email, upload, share, or print. The process uses an image you already have saved on your phone.

What you need before converting the image

First, make sure the photo is saved on your Android phone and that you can open it. You can start from either of the apps shown in this guide:

  • Google Photos, for images in your photo library.
  • Your phone’s Files app, for images stored in your files.

The steps are the same after you open the image. You will use Android’s print screen to create the PDF rather than sending the image to a physical printer.

Convert a photo to PDF on Android

  1. Open Google Photos or the Files app on your Android phone.
  2. Find the photo, screenshot, or JPG image you want to turn into a PDF.
  3. Select the image to open it.
  4. Select the three dots in the top-right corner.
  5. Select Print.
  6. Wait a moment for the image preview to load.
  7. Select Save to PDF.
  8. Change the PDF file name at the bottom if you want to use a different name.
  9. Select Save.

Your phone will create a new PDF version of the image. The original photo remains in place, so you still have the normal image file after saving the PDF.

Where to find the saved PDF

Open your phone’s Files app after saving the document. Go to Documents to find the new PDF. You can open it there to make sure the image converted correctly.

If you want to confirm that the new file is actually a PDF, select the three dots next to it and choose File info. The file information identifies it as a PDF.

Once you have confirmed the file, you can use it anywhere a PDF is required. For example, you can attach it to an email, upload it to a form, share it with another person, or print the document later.

Why use Save to PDF instead of sending the photo

A standard image file such as a JPG is useful for viewing and sharing photos. Some websites, workplaces, schools, and forms ask specifically for a PDF, though. Saving the image as a PDF gives you a document file without needing to move the photo to a computer first.

This is also helpful when you want the recipient to open the image as a document rather than as a separate photo. Since the conversion happens on your Android phone, you can create the PDF as soon as you have the image available.

Helpful checks if you cannot find the new file

After selecting Save, give the phone a moment to finish creating the document. Then open Files and check Documents. Looking in the correct folder is important because the original image may be in Google Photos or another location, while the PDF is saved as a document.

If you changed the file name before saving, search for that new name in the Files app. You can also open the PDF from Documents to verify that it contains the correct photo before you share or upload it.

Using Print followed by Save to PDF is a quick way to convert individual images directly on an Android phone. It keeps the process simple and uses tools already available on the device.
