Stop Seeing Notification Summaries
If your iPhone is replacing notification text with a shorter summary, you can turn that feature off in the Notifications settings. After you disable it, your Lock Screen and the notification view you see when you swipe down will show notifications as they appeared before, individually or in groups.
The setting is called Summarized Notifications. It is a single toggle, so you do not need to change each notification as it arrives. This is useful when a summary leaves out context that you need to see in the original alert.

Turn Off Summarized Notifications
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and select Notifications.
- Scroll down a little on the Notifications screen until you find Summarized Notifications.
- Select Summarized Notifications.
- Turn off the Summarized Notifications toggle.
That is all you need to change. Once the toggle is off, your iPhone will no longer show notification summaries. Instead, you will see the notifications in their original form, like you did before the summary feature was enabled.
What Changes After You Disable It
The main change is what you see in your notifications. Summaries can combine or shorten the information from incoming alerts. With Summarized Notifications turned off, you can read the full notification text rather than relying on a generated overview.
Check your Lock Screen after you receive another notification. You can also swipe down to open your notifications and confirm that they are displayed individually or grouped, without a summary replacing their contents.
This can be helpful for alerts where small details matter. A shortened notification may not include every name, message detail, or update included in the original alert. Turning summaries off lets you review what the app sent without that extra layer.
If You Cannot Find the Setting
Start again from the main Settings screen and open Notifications. The option you need is farther down that screen, so scroll a little until Summarized Notifications appears.
Make sure you select the setting itself, not just the Notifications page. The on and off control is inside the Summarized Notifications screen. If the toggle is already off, notification summaries are already disabled.
If you turned the toggle off but are still looking at an older summary, wait for a new notification to arrive and check that alert. The setting controls the summaries shown for notifications going forward. Your next alerts should appear without being summarized.
Quick Check
To confirm the change, return to Settings, open Notifications, and select Summarized Notifications. The toggle should be off. When it is off, you will see your regular notifications rather than AI-generated summaries on the Lock Screen or in the notification view.
You can turn the feature back on later from the same screen if you decide you want summaries again. For now, leaving Summarized Notifications off keeps the original notification details visible on your iPhone.
