Clear your Chrome history from the browser menu
You can delete Google Chrome history in a few clicks. Open Chrome, use the three-dot menu in the top-right corner, and choose how much browsing data to remove. This works on a PC, laptop, Mac, or Chromebook.
The important choice is the time range. You can remove recent activity, such as the last day, or select All Time to clear your entire Chrome browsing history.

How to delete Google Chrome history
- Open the Google Chrome browser.
- Select the three dots in the top-right corner of Chrome.
- Choose Delete Browsing Data.
- Select the time frame for the history you want to remove.
- Review the data options shown in the window and select the items you want deleted.
- Select Delete Data.
Chrome will remove the data you selected for the time range you chose. If you selected All Time and selected every available item in the delete window, Chrome clears all of that selected browsing data.
Choose how much history to remove
After you select Delete Browsing Data, Chrome gives you a time-frame option. This lets you control whether you are clearing a small amount of recent activity or your full history.
Use a shorter time frame when you only need to remove sites from recent browsing. For example, this is useful if you visited something you do not want left in your recent history.
Select All Time when you want to delete your entire Google Chrome history. This option is the one to use if you are cleaning up the browser before handing over the computer or if you simply want a fresh start.
Check the selected time frame before you press Delete Data. Your choice determines how far back Chrome removes the selected data.
Review the data options before deleting
The Delete Browsing Data window also shows options for the types of data Chrome can delete. Review this area carefully. You can choose what gets removed instead of treating every cleanup the same way.
If your goal is to delete all Chrome history, make sure the needed items in this section are selected. If you only want to remove a specific part of your browsing data, leave unrelated options unselected.
This review step matters because the Delete Data button removes the items currently selected in the window. Taking a moment to check both the time range and the selected data helps you avoid deleting more than you intended.
Delete recent history or everything
Use the same Chrome menu for both types of cleanup. The difference is in the choices you make before deleting.
- For recent history: Choose the time frame that covers the recent activity you want removed, then select Delete Data.
- For all history: Choose All Time, make sure all the data you want gone is selected, then select Delete Data.
You do not need a separate tool to clear your Chrome browsing history. The option is available directly from the three-dot menu in the Chrome browser.
Check that your Chrome history was cleared
Once you select Delete Data, the deletion is complete for the time range and data types you selected. If you meant to clear everything, confirm that you used All Time before deleting.
If some browsing activity remains, open Delete Browsing Data again and review your previous choices. A shorter time frame may have been selected, or the data option you needed may not have been selected.
Clearing Chrome history regularly can help remove sites you have visited and keep the browser history less cluttered. When you need to remove everything, use All Time and review every selected option before you confirm the deletion.
