Find videos you watched without guessing their titles
YouTube keeps a watch history for the videos you view while signed in. On a computer, you can open that history from the You area, then view the complete list. This is useful when you remember part of a video but cannot remember its channel name or exact title.
The steps below cover YouTube in a web browser on a desktop or laptop. The YouTube mobile app has a different layout, so these menu locations apply to YouTube.com in your browser.

Open your YouTube watch history
- Open a web browser and go to YouTube.com.
- Log in to your YouTube account.
- Find the left-hand menu and select You.
- At the top of the You page, find History. This section shows your YouTube watch history.
- Select View all to open the full history of videos you have watched.
You can now browse the list to locate a video you watched earlier. This is the full watch history view, so it gives you more than just the videos you can see in the smaller History section on the You page.
Use filters to narrow the history list
A long watch history can be hard to browse, especially if you watch a mix of regular videos, Shorts, podcasts, and music. In the full history view, YouTube provides filters that help you focus on the type of content you are trying to find.
You can filter the history by these categories:
- Videos for standard YouTube videos.
- Shorts for short-form videos.
- Podcasts for podcast content.
- Music for music you watched on YouTube.
Pick the category that matches the video you remember. For example, choose Shorts if you know it was a short vertical clip. Choose Music if you are looking for a song, performance, or music video. Filtering removes unrelated entries from view, which makes it easier to scan the results.
Search your watched videos
If you remember a word from the title, use the search option in the top-right area of the full history page. Search for a term you remember from the video title or topic. You do not need to know the full title to make this useful.
Try a distinctive word instead of a broad topic. A specific product name, creator name, place, recipe, game, or subject can reduce the number of matching history entries. You can also filter first and then search if you know the video was a Short, podcast, or music video.
This is usually faster than scrolling through the complete list, particularly when you watched the video days or weeks ago and have watched many other videos since then.
Clear your YouTube watch history
The same page also includes an option to remove the history. Select Clear all watch history if you want to delete your YouTube watch history.
Only use this option when you intend to remove the full history. If you are trying to find a recently watched video, search and filter the list first. Once you have found the video, you can open it again from the history page and continue watching or save it using the options available on YouTube.
Quick way to check videos you watched
For a fast check, go to You from YouTube’s left menu and look at the History section at the top. When you need to search further back or want more control, select View all. From there, use the content filters and the search tool in the top right to locate the video.
Using your watch history is the simplest way to revisit a YouTube video when you cannot remember its title. As long as you open YouTube while logged in to the account you used for watching, the History area is where you can check the videos associated with that viewing history.
