Download MP3 music from YouTube Studio
You can download music from YouTube as an MP3 file through YouTube Studio’s Audio Library. This method gives you access to music and sound effects that YouTube makes available in the library, rather than downloading audio from a regular YouTube video.
You need to sign in to the YouTube account connected to your channel first. The library location can look slightly different depending on your channel. Some accounts show Audio Library in the left menu, while others show Creator Music first.

How to save a song as an MP3 file
- Open a web browser and go to YouTube.com.
- Log in to your YouTube account.
- Select your channel avatar in the top-right corner of YouTube.
- Choose YouTube Studio from the menu.
- Look through the menu on the left side of YouTube Studio.
- Select Audio Library if it appears in the menu.
- If you see Creator Music instead, select it. Then choose Go Back to Audio Library in the bottom menu.
- Use the search field at the top of the Audio Library to look for a song or sound effect.
- Hover over the track you want to save.
- Select Download on the right side of that track.
The selected track downloads to your computer as an MP3 file. Once the download finishes, you can open the file on your computer and play it in your usual audio player. You can also import it into a video editing project if the track’s usage terms fit your project.
Finding the Audio Library when Creator Music appears
This is the part that can cause confusion. You may expect to see the Audio Library immediately in YouTube Studio, but your left menu may show Creator Music instead. That does not mean the Audio Library is unavailable.
Open Creator Music, then use Go Back to Audio Library in the bottom menu. This takes you to the area shown in the tutorial, where you can search the available tracks and download them directly.
Once you are in the Audio Library, the download process is the same. Search for something useful, hover over the result, and select Download. You do not need a separate MP3 converter for this process because the Audio Library download is already an MP3 file.
Search for music or sound effects
The search bar at the top of the Audio Library helps you narrow down the list. Try searching for a style, mood, instrument, topic, or other word related to the type of audio you need. For example, if you need background music for a calm video, search with words that describe that sound.
The same library also includes sound effects. Search for the type of effect you need, then follow the same hover-and-download process. This is useful when you need a short sound for an edit instead of a full music track.
Before downloading several files, play or review the tracks you are considering so you can choose music that suits the pace and tone of your project. A file name alone does not always tell you how a song will feel once it is under a voiceover or video clip.
Check the track details before using it
The Audio Library includes free music downloads, including royalty-free songs and sound effects. Still, check the usage information associated with the specific audio you choose before publishing a project. Different tracks can have different requirements, and you should make sure the track works for the way you plan to use it.
Keep a record of the track name and any relevant details when you download it. This makes it easier to identify the audio later if you use it in more than one project. It also helps when you are organizing a folder of music, effects, and video assets on your computer.
Use the downloaded MP3 on your computer
After selecting Download, wait for the file to finish saving. You can then open the MP3 to confirm that it downloaded correctly and that it is the track you intended to save. If you are collecting several options for a project, rename or organize the files in a way that makes them easy to find later.
This approach is limited to the music and sound effects available through YouTube Studio’s Audio Library. It is a straightforward way to save available library tracks as MP3 files directly from YouTube for videos and other projects.
