There are two different ways to unlink WhatsApp from Facebook. You might only want to remove your WhatsApp contact information from your Facebook profile. Or, you might want to remove your WhatsApp account from Meta Accounts Center so the accounts are no longer connected there.
These are separate actions. Removing the profile listing hides the WhatsApp item from your Facebook profile, but it does not necessarily remove the account connection. Use the Accounts Center steps later in this guide if you want to disconnect the accounts themselves.

Remove WhatsApp from your Facebook profile
Start here if your Facebook profile shows WhatsApp in your contact information. This removes the visible WhatsApp entry from the profile.
- Open the Facebook app.
- Select your profile icon in the top-left corner to open your Facebook profile.
- Look at your contact info for an item labeled WhatsApp.
- Select the pencil icon next to your contact information.
- Scroll to the Social media section at the bottom and find WhatsApp.
- Select the pencil icon next to WhatsApp.
- Select the pencil icon next to WhatsApp one more time.
- Select Remove.
- Save your changes.
Return to your profile and check the contact information section. WhatsApp should no longer appear there after you save.
This is the right option when your main concern is what other people can see on your Facebook profile. It does not use the WhatsApp app, and it does not remove your WhatsApp account.
Disconnect WhatsApp from Facebook in Accounts Center
Use these steps when you want to remove WhatsApp from the Accounts Center that also contains your Facebook account. The confirmation screen states that your WhatsApp account will lose access to connected experiences.
- Open the WhatsApp app.
- Select You in the bottom menu.
- Select the small arrow next to your name.
- Select Go to Accounts Center.
- In Accounts Center, select Manage accounts.
- Next to WhatsApp, select Manage.
- Select Move out of this Accounts Center.
- Review the message explaining that the WhatsApp account will lose access to connected experiences.
- Select Continue at the bottom.
- Enter your password if you are asked for it.
After you complete the confirmation, your Facebook and WhatsApp accounts are no longer linked through that Accounts Center.
Which option should you use?
Use the Facebook profile steps if you only see a WhatsApp contact item on your profile and want to remove it. This is a profile cleanup step.
Use the WhatsApp and Accounts Center steps if you want to separate the accounts themselves. This is the option to choose when you do not want WhatsApp included in the same Accounts Center as Facebook.
You can also do both. First remove WhatsApp from the Facebook profile so it is no longer displayed as contact information. Then move WhatsApp out of Accounts Center to remove the account connection.
Check that the accounts are unlinked
There are two quick places to verify the result. In Facebook, open your profile and confirm that WhatsApp no longer appears under contact information. In WhatsApp, go back to You, select the arrow next to your name, and open Accounts Center if needed. WhatsApp should no longer be managed alongside the Facebook account you removed it from.
If you are asked to confirm your password, complete that step before checking. The disconnect process is not finished until you select Continue and pass any password prompt.
What changes after removing the connection
Removing WhatsApp from your Facebook profile affects the information displayed on that profile. It does not delete your WhatsApp account or your Facebook account.
Moving WhatsApp out of Accounts Center removes its access to the connected experiences mentioned in the confirmation message. Your WhatsApp account remains available in the WhatsApp app, and your Facebook account remains available in Facebook. You are simply no longer keeping those accounts linked in the same Accounts Center.
If your goal is to keep the accounts separate, check both areas: the public-facing Facebook profile listing and the Accounts Center connection. That covers the two meanings people usually have when they want to unlink WhatsApp from Facebook.
