If you need your Apple ID password, check the saved-password locations on your iPhone first. Your iPhone can display it only if you previously saved the password in the Passwords app or Google Chrome. If it is not saved, you can change the password from Settings using your iPhone passcode or Face ID.
Start with the Passwords app. It is the most likely place to find an Apple ID or iCloud password that was saved on the phone. You will need to authenticate before iPhone shows any password details.

Check the Passwords app first
The Passwords app stores login details saved on your iPhone. If your Apple ID password is listed there, you can view the saved entry after verifying your identity with Face ID or your passcode.
- Swipe from right to left until you reach the App Library.
- Use the search field at the top and type Passwords.
- Open the Passwords app.
- Use Face ID or enter your iPhone passcode when prompted.
- Select All to browse every saved password.
- Search for your Apple ID entry. Try searching for Apple, your Apple ID email address, or another detail you recognize.
- Select the matching entry to view its saved password.
Check the account name before using the password. You may have more than one Apple-related entry, or an older saved password that no longer works. The entry you need should match the Apple ID email address you use for your Apple Account.
Look in Chrome Password Manager
If you use Google Chrome and save passwords to your Google account, your Apple ID password may be stored in Chrome instead. This is especially useful if you created or used the Apple ID on another device where you were signed in to Chrome.
- Go back to the App Library and search for Chrome.
- Open Google Chrome.
- Select the three dots in the bottom-right corner.
- Swipe through the menu at the top until you see Password Manager.
- Select Password Manager.
- Use Face ID or enter your passcode to open your saved passwords.
- Use the search field at the top and search for Apple, iPhone, or your Apple ID email address.
- Select the Apple entry if you find one, then view the saved password.
Chrome Password Manager shows passwords saved to the Google account used in Chrome. If you have multiple Google accounts, make sure you are checking the one that you normally use on your other devices. A missing entry does not mean your Apple ID is unavailable. It only means Chrome does not have a saved copy of that password.
Change your Apple ID password if it is not saved
You cannot reveal a current Apple ID password from iPhone settings if it was never saved in a password manager. In that situation, change it instead. Your iPhone lets you do this from Settings after you verify with the device passcode or Face ID, so you do not need to know the old Apple ID password first.
- Open Settings on your iPhone.
- Select the first option at the top that shows your name and Apple Account.
- Select Sign-In & Security.
- Select Change Password.
- Enter your iPhone passcode or use Face ID when asked.
- Enter the new Apple ID password you want to use.
- Retype the new password, then select Continue.
After changing it, keep the new password somewhere secure that you can access later. Your iPhone may save the new password in the Passwords app, but it is still a good idea to confirm that the saved entry is present and associated with the correct Apple ID.
Choose the right option
Use the Passwords app when you want to see a password saved directly on your iPhone. Check Chrome Password Manager when you normally save passwords through Chrome or a Google account. Change the password from Settings when neither location has an entry, when the saved password is outdated, or when you are not sure which password is current.
Do not share your Apple ID password with anyone. It can be used to access Apple services connected to your account. Only view or change it on your own iPhone after confirming that you are signed in to the correct Apple Account.
