Change the country shown on your YouTube channel
The country on your YouTube channel appears in the channel’s More section, under More information. If that country is wrong or no longer reflects where your channel is based, you can change it in YouTube Studio.
You will need to open YouTube in a browser and access the YouTube Studio settings for the channel you want to update. The setting is called Country of residence. After you choose a country and save the change, YouTube reflects it on your channel.

How to change your YouTube channel country
- Open a browser and go to youtube.com.
- Select your channel icon in the top-right corner of YouTube.
- Select YouTube Studio from the menu.
- In YouTube Studio, look at the menu on the left and select Settings near the bottom.
- Select Channel in the Settings window.
- Find the Country of residence setting.
- Select the current country to open the list of available countries.
- Choose the country you want displayed for your channel.
- Select Save in the top-right corner.
That is all you need to do. Your selected country should now be reflected on your YouTube channel.
Where to see the country on a YouTube channel
You can check the country that is publicly displayed by opening a YouTube channel and selecting More in its bio area. Scroll to the bottom of that information. The country appears under More information.
This is useful before and after making the change. Check it first to confirm what viewers currently see. Then check it again after you save your new Country of residence setting.
If you manage more than one channel, make sure you opened YouTube Studio for the correct channel before changing anything. The country setting you select applies to the channel you are currently managing.
What the Country of residence setting means
The Country of residence option tells YouTube where your channel is based. It is the setting used for the country displayed on your channel, so choose the country that accurately represents your channel’s location.
YouTube also provides a Learn more option next to this setting in YouTube Studio. Use that option if you want to review what the country selection means for your channel before saving a new choice.
Do not leave the Settings window without selecting Save. Choosing a different country from the list does not finish the update by itself. The save step is what applies the new selection.
If your channel country does not look updated
First, return to YouTube Studio, then go back to Settings, Channel, and Country of residence. Confirm that the country you intended to select is still shown there.
If it is correct, verify that you selected Save after changing it. You can then open your channel’s More section and look under More information to check the displayed country.
Keep the setting accurate if the country where your channel is based changes. You can return to the same YouTube Studio setting whenever you need to update the country shown on the channel.
