You can change your Netflix payment method from the Netflix app, but the final billing changes happen on the Netflix account page in your browser. From there, you can add a credit card, debit card, PayPal account, or gift card, choose which saved option Netflix charges first, and remove payment methods you no longer use.
The steps below work from an iPhone, Android phone, or Samsung Galaxy phone. Keep your new payment details ready before you begin so you can complete the update without interrupting your subscription.

Open your Netflix account settings
Start in the Netflix app. You will use the app to reach your account, then Netflix opens its account management page in your phone’s browser. You may need to sign in again after the browser opens.
- Open the Netflix app on your iPhone, Android phone, or Samsung Galaxy phone.
- Select My Netflix in the bottom menu.
- Select the small drop-down arrow next to your profile name in the top-left corner.
- Select Account.
- Near the top of the account screen, select Go to netflix.com/more.
- If Netflix warns that you are leaving the app and opening a browser, select Continue.
- On the page that opens, select Manage Account.
- Log in to your Netflix account if prompted.
After you log in, you should be on the Netflix account management page. This is where Netflix shows the payment methods currently connected to your account.
Add a new Netflix payment method
Use this option if your old card expired, you received a replacement card, or you want Netflix to charge a different payment source. On the account page, select Manage Payment Method.
Scroll down to see your existing saved payment methods. To add a new one, select Change Payment Method. Netflix gives you options to add a credit card, debit card, PayPal account, or a gift card.
- Select Change Payment Method.
- Choose the type of payment method you want to add, such as a credit card, debit card, PayPal, or gift card.
- Enter the requested payment information.
- Finish the on-screen steps to save the new payment method to your Netflix account.
Check the information carefully before saving it. A wrong card number, expiration date, or billing detail can still cause a payment to fail.
Make a different saved payment method preferred
If you have more than one payment method on your Netflix account, Netflix marks one as Preferred. This is the one Netflix will charge the next time your subscription payment is due.
You do not necessarily need to remove an old payment method when adding a new one. Instead, you can keep multiple options saved and make the one you want Netflix to use your preferred method.
- Open Manage Payment Method on the Netflix account page.
- Find the payment method that is not currently marked as preferred.
- Select the drop-down control next to that payment method.
- Select Make Preferred.
After you make the change, review the list again. The preferred label should be on the payment method you want Netflix to charge going forward.
Remove an old card or payment option
Removing an outdated payment method is useful after you have added and selected a replacement. For example, you may want to remove an expired card or a card you no longer use.
- Go to Manage Payment Method.
- Find the payment method you want to delete.
- Select the three dots next to it.
- Select Remove.
Be careful not to remove the only payment method you need for your active Netflix subscription. If you are replacing a card, add the new method first and make it preferred before deleting the old one.
Check your billing setup after changing it
When you finish, return to the payment methods list and confirm that the correct option is marked Preferred. This quick check matters most if you have multiple cards, PayPal, or a gift card on the account.
If Netflix previously had trouble charging your account, updating the payment method before the next billing attempt can help prevent another failed payment. Use the same Netflix account that has the active subscription, especially if more than one person in your household has separate accounts.
You can return to this area later through My Netflix, the profile drop-down, and Account whenever you need to update, prioritize, or remove a Netflix payment method.
