How To Connect Claude AI To Roblox Studio

You can connect Claude AI to Roblox Studio by enabling Studio as an MCP server, copying its JSON configuration, and adding that configuration to the Claude desktop app. After you restart Claude and approve the connection, Claude can detect your open Roblox place and show its Place ID.

You need the Claude desktop app installed before starting. You also need Roblox Studio open with either a new experience or an existing project.

Enable Roblox Studio as an MCP server

Start in Roblox Studio. Open the experience you want Claude to work with, or create a new one. The MCP server setting is available from the AI Assistant controls in Studio.

  1. Open Roblox Studio on your computer.
  2. Create a new experience or open a place you have already started.
  3. Select the small AI Assistant button in the top-right corner.
  4. Select the three dots in the AI Assistant panel.
  5. Choose Manage MCP Servers.
  6. Enable Studio as an MCP server.
  7. Open Setup Instructions.
  8. Select the Copy button beside JSON Configuration.

This copies the configuration that Claude needs to connect to Roblox Studio. Leave your Studio place open while you complete the remaining setup.

Add the Roblox Studio configuration to Claude

Next, open the Claude desktop app and edit its desktop configuration file. The video uses the Windows Start menu to find Claude.

  1. Select the Windows Start button and search for Claude.
  2. Open Claude.
  3. Select the three lines in the top-left corner.
  4. Select File, then choose Settings.
  5. Select Developer from the left-side menu.
  6. Select Edit Config.

A window opens with the Claude desktop configuration file selected. You need to open that file in Notepad and replace its contents with the JSON you copied from Roblox Studio.

  1. Right-click the file named Claude Desktop Config.
  2. Select Edit Notepad.
  3. Select all of the existing text in the file.
  4. Paste the JSON configuration copied from Roblox Studio.
  5. Save the file.
  6. Close Notepad.
  7. Close the configuration window.

The copied JSON is the link between Claude and the Studio MCP server. Make sure you paste the full configuration before saving. If the connection does not appear later, return to Roblox Studio and copy the JSON configuration again, then check that the saved file contains that copied text.

Fully quit and restart Claude

Claude needs to restart before it can use the updated configuration. Closing its main window may not fully quit the app, so check the taskbar notification area as shown in the video.

  1. Close Claude.
  2. Select the small arrow near the bottom-right corner of the Windows taskbar.
  3. Look for the Claude icon.
  4. If Claude is still running, right-click it and select Quit.
  5. Open Claude again from the Start menu.

Quitting from the taskbar is important here. It makes sure Claude starts again with the new MCP server settings instead of continuing to run with its old configuration.

Connect Claude AI to your open Roblox place

With Claude restarted and Roblox Studio still open, you can ask Claude to make the connection.

  1. In Claude, type connect to Roblox studio.
  2. Wait for the connection permission window to appear.
  3. Select Always Allow.
  4. Confirm that Claude reports it is connected.

Once connected, Claude should find your current Roblox place and display the Place ID. That confirms the Claude AI to Roblox Studio connection is working.

What you can do after connecting

Claude is now available as an assistant alongside your Roblox Studio work. You can use it to help write Luau scripts, review code, troubleshoot problems, and work through game or experience ideas while your place is open in Studio.

If Claude cannot find your place, check the basics first. Confirm that Studio is enabled as an MCP server, the JSON configuration was copied and saved, Claude was fully quit from the taskbar, and your Roblox experience remains open in Roblox Studio. Then reopen Claude and try the connection request again.

After the initial setup, you can return to your Studio project, open Claude, and use the connection as part of your usual development workflow.
