Update the payment method from your Netflix account
You can change the card, PayPal account, or other payment option Netflix uses without canceling your membership. Your profiles, viewing history, and account settings stay with the account while you update the billing details.
The steps shown here use a web browser on a desktop computer. The process is similar on a phone, but the placement of menus can differ. You will need to sign in to the Netflix account that has the active membership.

How to change your Netflix payment method
- Open a browser and go to netflix.com.
- Log in to your Netflix account.
- Select the small drop-down arrow in the top-right corner of the screen.
- Choose Account.
- Select Manage Membership.
- Scroll down until you find Manage Payment Method.
- Select Change Payment Method to add a new payment option.
- Enter the details for the payment method you want Netflix to use, then finish the on-screen update process.
After you save the change, Netflix uses the newly selected payment method for future membership charges. You do not need to create a new Netflix account, and you do not lose your existing profiles or watch history.
Payment methods you can add
From the Change Payment Method screen, you can add a credit card, debit card, or PayPal account. You can also redeem a gift card from this area if you have one available.
The payment method marked Preferred is the one Netflix currently plans to charge. Check this label after making changes so you know the correct card or payment option is set for your next billing date.
How to make another saved method preferred
If you already added a secondary payment method to Netflix, you may not need to enter its information again. Instead, set that saved option as the preferred one.
- Go back to Account, then open Manage Membership.
- Scroll to Manage Payment Method.
- Find the saved payment method you want to use.
- Select the three dots to the right of that payment method.
- Choose Make Preferred.
Netflix should then label that payment method as Preferred. This is useful when you have more than one card or payment option saved and simply want to change which one is charged.
How to remove a payment method from Netflix
You can also remove a payment method you no longer want connected to your account. Be careful not to remove the only payment method you need for an active membership unless you are replacing it first.
- Open Manage Payment Method from your Netflix account settings.
- Locate the payment method you want to delete.
- Select the three dots beside it.
- Choose Remove.
If the card you want to remove is currently marked Preferred, add or choose another valid payment method first. Then make the new one preferred before removing the old card. That helps prevent a problem when Netflix processes your next payment.
Check the change before you leave
When you finish, return to the payment management screen and confirm the correct option says Preferred. Also make sure the payment method you intended to remove no longer appears in the saved list.
Changing your Netflix payment method only updates billing. It does not change your plan, delete profiles, or clear your watch history. If you only needed to switch cards or move billing to PayPal, you are done once the new method is saved and shown as preferred.
