Use gain to change the volume of audio with Audacity:

  1. Open Audacity and load the audio file that you want to edit
  2. Use the meter on the left side of the audio track to increase or decrease the gain of your audio file.

Use amplification to change the volume of audio with Audacity:

  1. Open Audacity and load the audio file that you want to edit
  2. Use the Selection tool to select the area of audio that you want to amplify.
  3. Now in the menu select Effect.
  4. Under Effect, select Amplify.
  5. Now enter the amount of amplification to add. Keep in mind that too much amplification can cause distortion.
