You can download free MP3 music files to an Android phone with Chrome and Pixabay. Once the file has downloaded, you can open it on your phone and play it like any other music file, including when you are offline.
This method uses music available for free download on Pixabay. It is not a way to download every song from streaming services or other music websites.

Download free music to your Android phone
Start by opening a web browser on your Android phone. The steps below use Google Chrome, but the important part is visiting Pixabay and choosing a track you want to save.
- Open the Chrome browser on your Android phone.
- Go to pixabay.com.
- At the top of the Pixabay website, scroll the menu to the right until you see Music.
- Select Music to browse the available tracks.
- Scroll through the list of songs to find music you like. Pixabay has more than 260,000 songs available to download.
- Select the small Play button next to a track to preview it before saving it.
- When you find the track you want, select its Download button.
- Wait for the MP3 file to download to your Android phone.
- Open the downloaded file when it is available, then play it on your phone like any other music file.
Preview the track before downloading
Use the play button first if you are browsing several songs. This lets you hear the track before downloading an MP3 file to your phone. It is a quick way to check the style, tempo, and length of the music without saving every result you see.
When you are ready, use the download button for that specific track. The download begins on your Android phone, so keep Chrome open until it has finished.
What happens after the music downloads
The downloaded track is an MP3 music file saved directly to your phone. You can open it from the download prompt after it finishes and play it immediately. Since the file is stored on your Android device, you do not need an internet connection to play that downloaded file later.
