Garmin Venu Review:

This is a great smart watch for everyday fitness tracking.  The display is extremely unique for a Garmin watch because it is a high resolution AMOLED display. This means it looks similar to other smart watches from Apple or Samsung. The look is classic, so you won’t have to worry about it looking out of place in an office or work space.   There are a wide variety of activities this watch can track, so you will have a detailed activity profile for almost any movement you do throughout the day. The ability to create custom activities is also great, so on the off chance that this watch doesn’t already have the ability to track one of your activities, you can customize it so that all of your activities are accounted for.  I love how much this watch tracks, as it seems to focus on all aspects of health instead of just movement.

Pros of the Garmin Venu:

  • High resolution AMOLED display that looks great and shows a lot of detail.
  • Flat and long buttons make navigation a little easier and also smooth out the edges, making the watch appear more classic.
  • Quick connect bands make it easy to remove and replace if needed.
  • Touchscreen is very responsive and easy to control.
  • Wide variety of activities (Run, Treadmill, Indoor Track, Bike, Bike Indoor, Walk, Walk Indoor, Floor Climb, Pool Swim, Golf, Ski, Snowboard, XC Ski, Sup, Strength, Cardio, Yoga, Pilates, Breath Work, Elliptical, Stair Stepper, Row, Row Indoor, Navigate, Gymnastics, Martial Arts, Train, and Yard Work included).
  • Ability to create your own custom activities.
  • Four data screens that you can configure to display during your activities.
  • Interval training timer that can be customized to fit your workout.
  • Built-in Garmin Coach to help you run 5K, 10K, etc.
  • All health tracking (including Menstrual Cycle, Water, Respiration, Body Battery (special feature of Garmin that combines your heart rate with your sleep to gauge your energy level), Stress Tracking (with guided breathing relaxation timer), and Incident Detection (with automatic and manual triggers).

Cons of the Garmin Venu:

  • Display is not an Always On display. This means it turns on often, which can get annoying when compared to other Garmin watches.
  • For me, at 43mm the watch is too small. I prefer 45mm
  • Touchscreen might make water activities challenging with the Garmin Venu.
  • Heart rate monitor sticks out a little bit more than my Garmin Forerunner 245, but I haven’t noticed any pain or discomfort from it).
  • 5 days of battery life. Goes down to 2 days if you choose to leave the display on.
