When looking at the Pacuwi waterproof speaker I was on the hunt for a great gadget for camping. I needed something that would provide a battery charge for my cellphone, had a flashlight, and could play music when relaxing in my hammock. The Pacuwi multi flashlight is perfect for this. It features a 4000 mAh battery that not only can be used to charge your micro USB devices, it is used to power the very powerful LED flashlight and 10W speakers.
The Bluetooth speaker look very rugged and tough. It has two large, metallic speaker grills on each side and the rest of the device is covered with a rubber like material that makes it very easy to hold on to the speaker even when it is wet. The speaker has a good weight to it and does not feel cheap.
Pacuwi advertises that this speaker is waterproof. While I do not doubt that it could survive some splashing, I highly doubt it could survive being submerged at any depth. There is no IP rating for this ‘waterproof’ speaker and the rubber flaps that cover the micro SD card slot and AUX port do not seem to be very well covered to be waterproof.
As you can hear my video review of this speaker on YouTube, the speaker is powerful and sounds great. Once paired with your phone or connected via AUX, it is very responsive and can get extremely loud. I was impress when I noticed that the bass level was causing the speaker to move while it was sitting on my table. In addition to playing music the speaker can also be used to answer phone calls, which is a nice addition.
The flashlight on this device works surprising great for one LED. The beam is very wide and covers the entire wall of my living room from only 10 feet away. One feature I really love about this flashlight is that it requires a double tap to turn on. In the past I have had problems with flashlights dying because they were accidently turned on while in my backpack. With the double tap feature, I believe this problem will not happen as often and I can feel secure in the battery life of this flashlight being ready when needed.
I have been extremely happy with this device. The flashlight is bright, the speaker sounds great, and the 4000 mAh battery is enough to charge your phone ~2 times. It probably isn’t 100% waterproof but I believe it would survive a strong storm if left outside. In my opinion this speaker is perfect for hiking, camping, beach days, or any other adventures you can throw at it. Especially for only $20 on Amazon – http://amzn.to/2fO2TAa
